The Juicer has arrived!

Friends, Romans, Countrymen… lend me your ears!!!

I can now proclaim that our Hurom-100 Juicer has arrived!!

And we are the happiest little munchkins alive!  OK.. I’m the only one small enough to be a munchkin… so I am THE happiest little munchkin alive!  Juicing heaven here we come!

Here is a picture of us with our juicer….

I know right?  We’re such dags!  In fact so daggy, I’m using a word that was popular to use only in Australia in the 80’s!

OK, the juicer didn’t just arrive.. we’ve had it and been testing it out for at least a couple of weeks.

So what’s been really interesting recently is that we’ve been getting these boxes of organic vegetables delivered to our door once a week.  We’ve chosen a “medium” sized box which consists of 8 different vegetables and is meant to be good for 2-3 people for a week.  Usually the box will have potatoes, onions and then whatever is seasonal but you can choose not to receive certain items and they’ll surprise you by replacing it with something else like beetroot or squash or peppers or some crazy big portobello mushrooms, you get the drift.  We’ve been doing this for at least a year now, if not longer and what’s interesting is that in the last couple of weeks, the boxes have not been lasting us as long as they used to.

Before, we would have the box delivered on a Friday and we’d have some veggies left over  by the time the next box got delivered on the following Friday.  But recently, the box gets delivered on the Friday and we’ve somehow consumed ALL the vegetables by Tuesday.  Your first question might be… have they reduced the portions of veg they’ve included in the box?  And my answer is… absuliment pas!  The box is still full to the brim and the portions have not changed.

It is evident however, that our consumption of veg has increased.  Since doing yoga, our consumption of food in general has increased but recently we’ve been doing our best to limit the amount of meat we eat and what this means is that we have had to supplement our weekly veg box with extra veg grocery shopping mid-week.  Now that we’ve got the juicer… well, we’re going to have to do shopping 2-3 times a week (if not daily) for fruits and vegetables.  I wonder what it will do to our food budget!

This, I will record and I’ll report back.

We won’t be going on a juice fast just yet.  For now we will be incorporating juicing to only one of our meals per day / one meal every 2 days and see how we go from there 🙂
